Mrs. Mary McCourt Passed Away his morning
WAS SEVENTY-EIGHT YEARS OLD
Deceased Had Lived on Pine Street for Over Thirty-Five Years
Mrs. Mary McCourt died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. B. Clark, 1231 Washington Avenue North. Her death was due to injuries she received Saturday evening she was struck by a belt line car near her home on Pine Street. Most of the time since the accident she has been unconscious. On account of her advanced age, the shock and severe bruises Mrs. McCourt received had a fatal effect and since Tuesday evening there little hope of recovery.
The deceased was born in Ireland seventy-eight years ago. At the age of sixteen she was united in marriage to Peter McCourt,(12 November 1845) and in 1853 she and her husband came to America and settled in Kentucky. Later they moved to Canada, where they remained but a short time, and they moved to this city.
Mrs. McCourt had lived on Pine Street for thirty-five years, and was one of the first which was erected on that street. She had been a widow for sixteen years. Mrs. Mary Foley, Mrs. John Cooper, Mrs. A.B. Clark, Mrs. Edmond Sipple, of Lansing, and Mrs. Charles Hensey of Kalamazoo, and a sister
Mrs. Bridget Stevenson, of this city. She also leaves twenty-four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was a staunch member of St. Mary's and a member of the Christian Mothers' Society. Rev Fr. L.I. Brancheau will conduct the funeral service which will be held at St. Mary's Church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
