Margie Lee (Barnett) Wylie died Thursday, February 9, 1996, in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, after an illness. She was born on August 30, 1924, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Aurilla Margaret (Douglas) and Perry Earl Barnett. She married Virgil Eugene "Gene" Wylie on June 9, 1954, in Yarrow, Missouri.

She was raised in Yarrow, MO, and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, MO. Later, she was on the faculty of Mokane High School in Missouri.

Margie came to Fort Sumner, NM, in 1948 where she taught fourth grade until she retired in 1973. In 1967 she received a Masonic award as Teacher of the Year.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, National Education Association, Valley Quilting Club, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Alumni Association of of Northeast Missouri State University and the Union Church in Yarrow. Also, she enjoyed Bible reading, crocheting, quilting and horticulture.

She is survived by: one son, Stephen Wylie of Clovis; one brother, Harold Barnett, of Kirksville; and three grandchildren.
