George H. Estep, Jr., 81, Elizabethton passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a lengthy illness. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late George H. Estep, Sr. and
Bessie Norris Estep. He was a retired farmer and [retired from] North American Rayon Corporation. "Junior" served as a Water Commissioner of the First Utility District. He operated Stoney Creek Bus Line for a number of years. Junior was a member of the Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years: Betty Jo Bishop Estep, two sisters: Evelyn Taylor and Grace Estep and three brothers: Porter, N D & Paul Estep. Survivors include three sons & daughters-in-law: Mike & Karen Estep, Jeff & Sharon Estep and David & Becky Estep. Seven grandchildren: Mike Estep, Jr., Brandon Estep, Kristi Hyder, Ethan Estep, Josh Estep, Jacob Estep and Christopher Estep. Six great grandchildren: Damon Estep, Bryston Estep, Drake Estep, Madelynn Estep, Carson Estep and Trevor Hyder. Two brothers: Lee Edwin Estep and wife Gay, Elizabethton and Huey Estep & wife Lydia, Arcadia, California. Several nieces & nephews. His special friends: Cleta Lingerfelt and Tom & Marie Oxendine and a special little friend: Rylan Crabtree.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in the Estep Family Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Heaton officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Johnny Hyder. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Dungan Chapel Baptist Church. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Victor and Judy Deloach and the Staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and the staff of 2nd floor, Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home or at the residence at anytime. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge.
