Rod Lee Bradway

Age 41, of Indianapolis. Beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2013. He loved his wife and children with all of his heart and was an amazing husband and father. Rod died doing what he loved, serving the citizens of Indianapolis. He never thought of himself as a hero, he was grateful to be doing something that he loved. He was a public servant who demonstrated courage, bravery, compassion, honor and integrity throughout his life. Rod comes from a family with a strong public safety background.

Rod started his career at Wayne Township Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT for 10 years, before joining IMPD in 2007. As well as be being an IMPD officer, he was actively involved in animal rescue groups, the Boy Scouts, Decatur Central Marching Band and IHSAA soccer and basketball officiating. He loved SCUBA diving and playing with his four dogs.

Rod is survived by his loving wife, Jamie Bradway; son, Jonathan Bradway; daughter, Sierra Bradway; parents, Thomas and Sheri Ann Bradway; brother, Chip Bradway (Shelley); father and mother-in-law, Teresa and Ronald Gentry; sister- in-law, Jaclyn (Donald) Gentry; two nieces, Ella Bradway, Kaylee Millard and one nephew, Conner Millard. Also surviving are a host of other relatives, friends, his Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department family and Wayne Township Fire Department family.

Public services will be held at Banker's Life Fieldhouse, 125 S. Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204 on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. Vistation will be in Crown Hill Remembrance Chapel , 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, open to the public from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
