Brian Richard Wilkinson died on Saturday, 19 April, 2008, at the age of 62. Beloved husband of Joan (née Phillips) Wilkinson. Loving father of Tom. Cherished son of Beatrice (née Roy) Wilkinson and the late Thomas Wilkinson. Brother-in-law of David Phillips. Brian will also be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Friends called at the Ward Funeral Home 'Brampton Chapel' in Brampton, on Tuesday, April 22. The Funeral service was held in the chapel on Wednesday, April 23rd.

Brian's father, Tom, was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, having enlisted during the Second World War, so the family moved every 3-4 years to a different RCAF base whenever a new posting came about; the Wilkinson family lived on various Canadian RCAF bases. When Brian was in his late teen-aged years, Tom Wilkinson and his family were sent on a posting to Europe, to one of Canada's RCAF NATO installations.

At 3 (F) Wing in Zweibrucken, Germany, Brian was a student at Schoenblick High School for three of his high school years. He participated in school sports, especially enjoying playing on the 'Spartans' football team, and competing against other high school teams from the other five RCAF bases in Europe. He was popular, and joined his friends at dances, movies, the base swimming pool, and other base activities. Unlike most of his fellow teenagers at 3 Wing, Brian had a car and that allowed him the freedom to visit the local German communities and experience the rich culture that Germany had to offer.
When the Wilkinson family returned to Canada following Tom's 'tour of duty' in Europe, they settled in the Toronto area.
