He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 7, 1918 and was honorably discharged on December 8, 1919. He served as a Private assigned to the 346th BN HQ Tank Corps. He married Grace Muir Burge. They lived at 311 Vine Street, Boonville, Missouri.
