Last Rites for Delos Huber at Meltonville

Funeral services for Delos M. Huber were conducted by the Rev. Elwin Labrenz of Otranto at the Meltonville Community church Tuesday afternoon, May 8, at 2:30, the Conner Funeral Home of Northwood in charge, and with the Nelson Ogden American Legion Post of Carpenter in charge of military rites. Interment was in the Woodbury cemetery.

Delos Merton Huber, son of James H. and Emma J. Huber, was born in Meltonville, Iowa, Worth county, October 13, 1885. He was baptized in the Methodist faith by Rev. Galbraith, at Meltonville, Iowa. He attend the Meltonville school, Manly high school and business school in Mason City. A veteran of World War I, he entered the Army May 10, 1918, and served overseas with Co. B of the 19th. Machine Gun Battalion, 7th Division. He saw active fighting with the Second Army offensive and was discharged June 26, 1919. Following Army service he was engaged in cattle buying and livestock business.

He was wed to Inez Greiner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elza Greiner, June 29, 1936. After marriage they resided in Mason City and then Austin, Minn., where he bought livestock. Later, they moved to Badger, Wisconsin, where he lived until the time of his death, Saturday morning, May 5, at a Madison, Wis., hospital following surgery, at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 22 days.

Delos is survived by his wife, Inez, two nephews and one niece; two brothers, Sam H. of Meltonville, and Newton V. of Northwood, and one uncle, Will McKercher of Madison, Wis., and one aunt, Clara Lyford of Chicago, Ill. -- F. L.
