Mary Anne is the youngest of six known children of John & Alice (née Browne) King of Skerries, Ireland. She married Master Mariner Thomas Mansfield at St. Patrick's of Skerries in 1874.

Mary Anne & Capt. Thomas had two children, James & John Joseph, raising their family at their home, 'Corner House' on Chapel Street. So named as it was on the corner of Chapel Street (now called Thomas Hand St). The house came to them through Mary Ann's grandfather Thomas Browne. Across the street on the opposite corner, the Brownes ran a sail making & fishing net repair shop. After her passing, the house was left to her son John & is the Skerries house where the Mansfields of Sandymount spent all their summers during childhood. Corner House was sold, then torn down in the 1980's.

Mary Anne's eldest son James followed his father into a life on the water, eventually emigrating to America. James passed away about 1947 in New York. The date of James' passing & location of his grave are unknown. Her younger son John became a baker in Dublin City & one of the Patriot Heroes who would fight, sacrifice & suffer so that Ireland would be a free & united nation, a fight that continues to this day.

She passed away at home just weeks before the birth of her 8th grandchild Morgan.

✞ Mary Anne Mansfield is buried with her husband Capt. Thomas in the family plot at Holmpatrick Graveyard in Skerries. Buried with her are her son John, daughter in-law Elizabeth and 3 of her grandchildren, Alice, Seán & Cathal.
Over Mary Anne & Capt. Thomas' grave, their grandson Liam erected the large and now well known Holmpatrick landmark, The Mansfield Family Memorial Stone. Yet to be added to this stone are the names of Mary Anne's grandsons Morgan O.P. (buried in New York, USA) & James de V. (buried in Co. Wicklow).
