He was a past master of the Paris Lodge and was past district deputy of District 16, a member of the Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston, ME, a member of the Foster-Carroll American Legion of South Paris, ME.

He was a former company commander of C Company 103rd RTC, Norway National Guard. He served with the 83rd Infantry Training Battalion during WWII.

He was an Oxford County per diem deputy sheriff and a member of the South Paris Grange.

He was a former cubmaster of Pack 130 South Paris, ME and was active in Boy Scouts.

He was a former director of the Oxford County CEP and was serving as deputy director at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife Gloria of South Paris, ME; two sons Benjamin B III of Machias, ME; Terry L or Oxford, ME; two daughters Carol Ann Blais of South Paris, ME; April Holly L'Heureux of Japan; a brother Erland P of Woodstock, ME; a sister Fern Sawtelle of Portland, ME.
