Glen L. Pace of Sandy, Utah, died on Saturday, September 21, 2013, following a valiant battle with cancer, often joking that he had lived 20 years longer than cancer had planned on. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. One daughter and one granddaughter predeceased him. Glen served two tours in the U.S. Army during WWII, receiving several medals and an honorable discharge. His philosophy was "Freedom is not free," not just in times of war, but in daily life to respect the rights of others, especially when one may not share similar values, faith, interests, culture, or heritage. Service was Glen's practice: to family, to faith, to friends, to neighbors, and to strangers, willingly lending a hand as a Mr. Fix-it at any time of day or night. He worked as an electrician until his retirement, always providing for his family. Glen enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, and camping. His favorite activity was to explore the mountains and deserts of Utah with his family by driving for hours with no particular destination in mind. While we will miss him greatly, we are glad his suffering has ended. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of the dedicated and caring medical professionals and staff at the VA Medical Center and Huntsman Cancer Institute who treated Glen with, as he would say, "The best care, bar none." Respecting his final wishes, the family is not holding a memorial service. The graveside dedication and interment will be at Noon on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park, in Bluffdale, Utah.
