Wife of Arbaham Hendricks
parents of 11 children. Jane COX HENDRICKS
Obituary
Mrs. Jane HENDRICKS died at her residence in Bancroft, Missouri, Friday, Jan 20, 1888*, of old age and general debility. Deceased was born in Buncombe County, North Carolina, January 20, 1800, and at the age of one year, her parents, who names were COX, moved with her to Missouri and settled near New Madrid, and were there at the time of the earthquake at that place. She was married at Cape Girardeau to Abraham HENDRICKS in 1820, and moved from there to near Liberty, Adams CO, Illinois, and lived there until 1853, when they moved to Texas. They came to Daviess County, in 1855 and have lived in this county, near Bancroft, ever since. They raised a family of eleven children, two of whom died in Texas, one at Bancroft, the remaining eight are still living. Eli N HENDRICKS of Bancroft, was her oldest child. Her husband died in the same house where she died eighteen years ago, last December. She has been a consistent member of the Dunkard Church for the last sixty-five years, and was perfectly resigned and willing to meet the visitor death when he approached. She was conscious to the last and shortly before her death, she remarked to her relatives at the bedside, "I am going to leave you, all is well with me."

Her remains were buried at the HILL graveyard by the side of her husband, funeral services being conducted by Mrs. Slingerling, of Laciede, Missouri. A large concourse of relatives and friends were present at the last sad rites over one who was a loving wife, a fond mother, a devoted Christian and the most agreeable of neighbors. She was loved by all who knew her. Her nearly eighty-eight years, longer than usually allotted to man, were full of the vicissitudes of pioneer life, but in all her struggles for life she never forgot her duty to her neighbors and friends. "After life's fitful fever, she sleeps well."

Jane was my paternal 3rd great grandmother.
