GEORGE DRAKE, 64, of 1082 Shore Rd., Cape Elizabeth, died unexpectedly Sunday evening in a local hospital following a brief illness.

Born Feb 7, 1899 in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of the late William and Blanche Ford Drake and attended Lynnfield Mass., schools. He was a graduate of Hebron Academy and was graduated from Bowdoin College in 1922. He was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity and was a Navy veteran of World War I. Following his graduation, he was associated with Bangor Hydro Electric Co., and came to Portland 26 years ago as an investment broker. In recent years he was with Townsend Dabney and Tyson. He was a member of the State Street Congregational Church and a former member of the Waterville lodge of Masons.

Besides his widow, the former Thelma E. Moore, he is survived by two sons, Spencer Drake of Portland and William H. Drake II of Keene, N.H., and four grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 pm Wednesday at 749 Congress St.
