Kenneth George Ryder, 69, of Mountain Grove, Virginia, died Friday, October 21, 2005, at the Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, Virginia.

He was born July 6, 1936, in Bath County, Virginia, the son of Rexford George Ryder and Maxie Jenkins Ryder. He was married to his wife of 49 years, Betty J. Ryder.

Mr. Ryder worked for the United States Forestry Department for over 30 years. He was a member of the Mountain Grove Fire Department. Mr. Ryder was an avid hunter.

He is survived by his mother, Maxie Jenkins Ryder, of Mountain Grove; his wife, Betty J. Ryder of Mountain Grove; four children, Kenneth Bruce Ryder, of Mountain Grove, Karen R. Finel, of Warm Springs, Virginia, Randall G. Ryder, of Goshen, Virginia, and Keith G. Ryder, of Porter, Texas; a brother, Ray Ryder, of Mountain Grove; a sister, Janice O'Farrell, of Mountain Grove; nine grandchildren and two step grandchildren.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rex Ryder.

A funeral service was conducted Monday, October 24, 2005, at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Hot Springs with Reverend Steve Greer officiating. Interment was in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
