Sophronia was the daughter of Phineas Wheeler and Eunice Blodgett.

On Nov 1, 1858 in Stratford she married Erastus S. Atherton, son of Aldolphus Atherton and Roxanna White.

Their children were Mary Alma, Harvey, Eva, Albertha, Fred, Irvin, Elvin, George Everett, Phineas, and Effie. The 1900 & 1910 census showed they had 9 children with only 7 living in 1900, but all the birth/marriage/death certs and census reports shows they had ten children who all survived well past 1900.

Erastus preceded her in death in 1888.

On July 9, 1905 in Stratford she married James D. Blodgett, son of Josiah Blodgett and Mary Fuller, and widower of Lucinda G. (Cross) Blodgett. (Her daughter, Albertha, had married James's son, Haven, in 1901).

James preceded her in death in 1912.
