Jacob Frank Aman died on Friday, August 6, 2010, at the age of 83. Jake relocated to the area in February of this year. He lived at Forrest Glen in Canyonville, Oregon, until Jake became ill. He lived at Adams House until his death. Jake loved his country very much. He enlisted in the Navy at the age of sixteen and became one of America's youngest Warriors. Jake served on the U.S.S. Corregidor from 1944-1946. He re-enlisted during the Korean War and served on the U.S.S. Hamul from 1950-1952. Jake earned four battle stars on his Asiatic-Pacific ribbon.

Jake was an engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad for most of his working life which is where he met his life long friend, Joe Valalaro.

Jake loved to travel and go RV camping all over the United States. He met his life partner, Ethel Jackson on one of those trips, who preceded him in death.

Jake leaves behind three children son, Charles Aman and wife, Nancy of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; daughter, Linda Baldwin and husband, Bobby of Roseburg, Oregon and daughter, Carol and husband, Steve of Washington. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Mike Baldwin, James Baldwin; Willie Baldwin, Lara Aman; Jeff Aman and seven great-grandchildren.
