Mrs. Roe was born in Blue Ridge, GA, on September 3, 1921, the daughter of the late Vernie Ballew and Ella Conley Ballew. She married and moved to Rome in 1949 and lived in Rome until December 2011, when she moved to Sunrise Assisted Living in Johns Creek near her daughter Brenda. Mrs. Roe worked for twenty years as a postal clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Rome and made many dear friends there.
Mrs. Roe was a long-time member of Fellowship Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Hudon Roe, her dear husband of 29 years. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers, Jack Ballew, Ed Ballew, Ralph Ballew, and Bill Ballew.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Roe Young of Rome; her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Roe Shaw and Richard Shaw of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Mary Beth Brkovic (Ermin), Dr. Kristen Shaw Hall (Chase), Cara Leigh Brumit (Tim), and Emily Elizabeth Shaw; great-grandchildren, Hallie Kate Brumit, Connor Brumit, and Bennett Brkovic. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Roe was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She devoted her entire life to her family. Nothing pleased her more than spending time with her family. She was very active in her church, especially enjoying her time with the ladies in her Sunday School class. They were her dear friends. Her friends and family affectionately called her Mimi and will miss her sweet smile and gentle spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Miller & Richards Funeral Home with Dr. Dale Levan officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
