James M. Deerr, 78, 1705 Northfield St., died Monday morning in Woodland Nursing Home following an extended illness.
A Muncie native, he was the son of Frank and Mary Ellen McFadden Deerr, and had resided here all his life. He was a retired employee of Warner Gear and was a former employee of Indiana Steel and Wire.
Mr. Deerr was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the Sympathy Club at Warner Gear.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia (Douglass) Deerr; one son, Richard (Dick) Deerr, Muncie; one daughter, Mrs. George (Patricia) Crespi, Anaheim, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ezra Lowman and Mrs. Martin Haughey, both of Muncie; two brothers, Paul (Pete) Deerr and Frank Deerr, both of Muncie; and six grandchildren.
Father Raymond Weiber will celebrate a Mass of Resurrection at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum. Friends may call at Meeks Mortuary from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. The Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. today at the mortuary.
