Annie Frances Evans Chamberlain, 80, widow of Robert E. Chamberlain, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 in Hampton, Virginia. Born March 31, 1923 in Appomattox, Virginia to Clarence and Sallie Evans, Frances was a long time resident of Hampton and an active member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Known as "Nanny" to many and beloved as cousin "Girlfriend" to at least a few, she is survived by her daughter, Judy Ann Raynor of Hampton, her sisters Kathleen Wooldridge and Nanny May Davidson of Appomattox, her grandchildren Lisa Ann McKinley of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Robert Martin Raynor of Hampton, and her great-gradchildren, Jordan McKinley, Colton McKinley, Kaela Rae Raynor, Payton Salleen Raynor, and Tyler Forbes.
She was a small bundle of energy, and a wonderful, kind and warm hearted woman. Frances was a great home cook (as her mother Sallie was before her), and had the most wonderful laugh and sense of humor. In her later years after her husband Bob died, she and her cousin Lillian Taylor were "a pair of scamps", enjoying life and telling the best stories while helping others when they could. She is very much missed by all who knew and loved her.
