Services for Violet Alene Ferguson Barton, 87, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2010 in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. David Whitehurst officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.
Mrs. Barton was born February 12, 1923 in Hemphill, Texas, the daughter of the late Alphia (Lott) and Elisha Ferguson. She passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 in a local hospital. Mrs. Barton was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Overcomers Full Gospel Church.
Survivors include her children, Bryce Brown, Wayne Brown, Ruby Ard, Mary Ann McFarland and Alphia Belyeu; grandchildren, Dean, Michael, Teresa, Doug, Dody, Darlene, Shannon, James, Misty, Darrell, Rhonda, Cindy, Tammy, Sam, Becky, Kim, Chrissy and Jennie; numerous great-grandchildren; and a number of other family members. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her husband, William Barton; children, Faye Bass, Dennis Bass, and Sam Bass, Jr.; and grandson, Derrick Pina.
