Obituary - William Ivor Thomas, Jr, of Montrose, PA., passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017.

Born November 5, 1919 in Peckville,PA he was the son of the late William Sr. and Lena (Bohner) Thomas. He was a graduate from Montrose High School in 1940.

William (Bill) married Mae D. Saar ,. a girl he met at the Banner Slipper Company where they both worked. They were married 2 Oct 1942. Bill and Mae were together for 68 years until her death in 2009.
His sisters Estelle (Charles) Lewis, Millicent (Thomas) Sloat-Holdsworth, Phyllis (Thomasa) Batzel and brother Thomas Charles precedecrssed him. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bill was originally employed by the Montrose firm. Banner Slipper Co.. The Banner Slipper became United Shoe Machinery and later Black And Decker. With Bill's experience at the shoe companies he became an expert in making all kinds of shoes, repairing all kinds of shoes, servicing the sewing machines and training employees on operating them Bill has repaired and refurnished many sewing machinesfor the people of Montrose and surrounding areas.

Bill was an expert craftsman than, an artist and the musician. He could repair furiture, create "fun things". His turtle stools, butterflies and horses (for kids) many of which he donated to friends, relatives and "Ronald McDonald's."

He always had his harmonica ready to play the tune he loved, especially his favorite hymn, "How Great Thou Are".

Uncle Billy took pride in the 1957 Chevy car which was restored to its original condition and won a National Award for best car. It was common to see him in his cream and turquoise, four-door driving in a local parades and in car shows parked in the National Winners area which were his Pride and Joy.

Bill had many friends and indeed the town of Montrose will miss him.

Services were held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc Montrose, Susquehanna, PA
