Pvt L. M. Deming Killed In Action Luxembourg Area
Pvt. Leland M. Deming, 24, U. S. Third Army, under Gen. George S. Patton, was killed in action February 15, in Luxembourg, according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Deming, 1417 West Fifth avenue, Saturday afternoon, message from the War department early in March stated Private Deming was missing in action.
A veteran of three years in the service, Pvt. Deming had served 27 months in the Aleutians before being sent to the European theatre in November, 1944. Prior to entering the service, Deming was employed at the Fuller Grocery He was home on furlough last July.
Surviving are his parents of Corsicana; four brothers, Cpt. Edmond Deming, veteran of the Italian campaign, now in South-Carolina, wounded at Cassino; Pvt. Jim Harry Deming, two years overseas, stationed in England; Max Deming, seaman first class, Coast Guard, and Jasper Deming, Corsicana, employed by the Southern Pacific Lines, and a sister Joyce, aged 11 years.

LEONARD M. DEMING FUNERAL SERVICES PLANNED SATURDAY

Funeral services for Pvt. Leonard M. Deming, 24, killed in action in Germany Feb. 15, 1945, while serving with the 76th Division, Third Army, will be held from the Corley Funeral Chapel Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The rites will be conducted by Rev. A.J. Kirkland, pastor of the Missionary Baptist church.
Born April 11, 1920, at Wortham, Deming entered the armed forces here and had been in the army three years and one month when he was killed, having served 27 months in the Aleutians before being sent to the European sector in 1944.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Deming, 1417 West Fifth avenue, Corsicana; four brothers, Edmond Deming, Odessa; Jim H. Deming, U.S. army; Max and Jasper Deming, both of Corsicana and a sister, Joyce Deming, Corsicana.

The body is scheduled to arrive in Corsicana Friday.

Pall bearers will be Johnnie Sirman, Roy Steward, Doyle Renfro, Charlie Jordan, G.W. O'Neal and Eldon Murphy.
