FLANAGAN - Melvin E. Oltman, 93, of Flanagan, died at 6:55 a.m. Friday (Dec. 12, 1997) at OSF Saint James Hospital in Pontiac.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Petri Lutheran Church, rural Flanagan, with the Rev. Dennis Scoville officiating. Burial will be in the St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Beulahland Christian Home, St. Petri Lutheran Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Oltman was born Nov. 29, 1904 in Benson, the son of John and Minnie (Carls) Oltman. He married Elise E. Wiechman on March 12, 1931, in Flanagan. She died on April 22, 1976. He then married Elise A. Rients, Flanagan. She survives.
He is also survived by two foster daughters, Betty (Jim) Moudy, Normal; and Patricia (Glen) Faucon, Milan, Ill.; one brother, Eldon Oltman, Sycamore; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
He was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Flanagan, and he farmed all of his life in the Benson and Flanagan area.
