PIONEER OF BRANCH DIES AT AGE OF 74

Infirmities incident to old age caused the death of Stephen Schermetzler at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Kovarik, 1314 So. Twelfth street, at 6:30 this morning.

The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9 o’clock with services at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary.

Mr. Schermetzler was born in Germany seventy-four years ago and came to this country at the age of six months with his parents. The family settled at Branch where he was married fifty-two years ago to Catherine Andras who preceded him in death three years ago.

He is survived by seven children, Edward of Marshfield, Jacob of Branch, Gustave of Rozellville, Verne of this city, Mrs. James Kovarik of this city and Mrs. Fred Ouchlerlang (only 6 of 7 stated children are named) of Chicago and by thirteen grandchildren.
