Frank Schill, Early County Resident Dies at Advanced Age


After over fifty years of continuous residence in the county, Frank Schill, a well known pioneer died at an early hour this morning, the demise being due to a paralytic stroke.

Decedent was born at Kreitz-Sarburg in the province of Rhine, Germany, coming to this county with his parents in 1849 and settling at School Hill, in the Town of Meeme. He removed to Manitowoc, locating just outside the city limits twelve years ago where he lived up to the time of his death.

The only relative in this city, is a brother-in-law, Michael Kuhl.

Death in Holy Family Hospital on Mon., following a six-week illness from a stroke, of Frank Schill, one of the oldest German settlers of our county.

The deceased was born 08 Sep. 1824, in Kr. Saarburg, Rhineland, and came to America in 1849 settling in School Hill. About 12 yrs. ago he moved over to Manitowoc. Michael Kuhl is a brother-in-law of the deceased.

The funeral was held this morning from the Catholic Church.

Frank Schill, aged 80, died at the Holy Family Hospital Monday morning at about 10 o'clock.

About two months ago, while at Fond du Lac, he was stricken with paralysis which caused his death. He has been in the hospital for about six weeks.

He leaves two sons-in-law, Frank Stoller, of Port Washington and John Riplinger, of Colby, and seven grandchildren. a Brother-in-law, Michael Kuhl and a sister-in-law, Annie Robert, also survive.

Mr. Schill was born in Kraitz Sarbourg, Rhine Province, Germany, Sept 8, 1824. He has been a resident of this county for over 50 years living first in School Hill in the town of Meeme. His wife died years ago.

STATE OF WISCONSIN, County Court for Manitowoc County.
In the Matter of the estate of Franz (sic) Schill, Deceased.-In Probate.

An Instrument in writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Franz Schill of the City of Manitowoc, in said county, having been delivered into said Court:
And Frank Stoller of Manitowoc City in said county, having presented to said Court his petition in writing duly verified, representing, among other things, that said Franz Schill died testate, at Manitowoc City, in said County, on the 14th day of March 1904; that said instrument is the Last Will of said deceased and that Frank Stoller is a grandson of said deceased and the only relative residing in Manitowoc County, and praying that said instrument be proven and admitted to Probate and that letters of administration with the will annexed be thereon issued to Nick Kuhl.
It is ordered: That said petition and the matters therein be heard, and proofs of said Last Will and Testament be taken at a special term of said County Court, to be held at the Probate Office in the city of Manitowoc, on Tuesday, the 26th day of April, 1904 at 10 o'clock A.M.
And it is further Ordered: That notice of the time and place of said hearing be given by publication hereof for three successive weeks, once each week previous to the time of said hearing in the Wahrheit a newspaper published in said Manitowoc county.
