William Harvey Cleaver was a son of Peter and Sarah (Crews) Cleaver. His father died when he was only two years of age. He was twice married, first in 1853 to Martha Reason, and, after her death, to Mary Jane Sears in 1863. He was a farmer in Massie township and served for four years as township trustee. By his first marriage he was the father of Sarah Bell and Mary Elizabeth. By his second marriage he was the father of Martha Edna, Anna C., Lutie A., Willie E., and Warren M.

William Cleaver died at his home in this place Thursday night. Funeral services were held at the cemetery at 11 o'clock Sunday. The deceased has been in poor health for more than a year but was confined to the house for only a few days.
