Mrs. Clara Schmitz, 78, (photo) of 929 S. 21st St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital after a three-month illness.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Very Rev. Msgr. Alfred Schneider will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Schmitz, nee Clara Massmann was born March 6, 1892, at Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Peter and Rose Massmann. She was married to John Schmitz April 24, 1917, at Manitowoc. He preceded her in death July 29, 1945. She had been employed at the Manitowoc Motor Hotel prior to her illness.
Survivors include a son, Elmer, of Manitowoc; four daughters, Mrs. Alois (Marie) Kaderabek of Rt. 1, Whitelaw, Mrs. Lee (Bernice) Wagner of Manitowoc, Mrs. Lester (Josephine) Landt of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, and Mrs. Raymond (Dorothy) Fierst of Rt. 1, Whitelaw; a step-brother, Anton Stehula, of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Anna Seidl, of Manitowoc; two step-sister, Mrs. Sophie Remiker and Mrs. Leo Hastreiter of Manitowoc; 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A daughter and a brother preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
