Mr. Harold J. (Schmitty) Schmitz, age 92, a resident of Bedford, Ohio, and formerly of 2231 LaFollette Avenue, Manitowoc, died April 16, 1995, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
Private Family Funeral Services will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, Thursday, April 20, 1995. Deacon William Klein will officiate with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Schmitz was born December 24, 1902, in Neenah, son of the late Joseph and Ann DeSalien Schmitz. On July 9, 1929, he married Mildred J. Bonin in Manitowoc. Mildred preceded him in death on June 22, 1989. Schmitty was a long time employee of Wisconsin Bell. He worked for Ma Bell for 49 years and retired in 1967. He was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, the Sea Gull Club and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include one daughter, Sarah (Joe) Piller, Bedford, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Sue Bonin, San Antonio, Texas. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorials would be appreciated to the Winneconne or Manitowoc Historical Societies.
Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with the funeral arrangements.
