Mrs. Wernecke , the former Charlotte Rehbein, was born April 8, 1880 in the Town of Newton, daughter of the late Charles and Martha Buerstatte Rehbein. She was married in 1906 to Herman Wernecke and he died in 1920. She was married to Carl Wernecke Feb. 16,1921. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and it's corresponding secretary and charter member of the Newtonburg Homemakers.
Surviving are the husband; three sons, Werner and Richard of Manitowoc and Karl of Rt. 1, Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Waak, Mrs. Lillian Bruns and Miss Bertha Rehbein of Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A son, Raymond, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Ninth Street entrance after 3 p.m. Sunday until 10:30 a.m. Monday and then at the church.
