Wm. was the son of Wm. Riley Burleson and Emily Jane (Crawford) Burleson Jones.

He settled in the Central Texas area of Brownwood, Brown Co., and was a Baptist minister for 58 years.

On 28 Nov 1880, near Spanish Fort, Montague Co., TX, he married 15 year old Laura Alice MILLER, and to this union were born Emma Frances, Carrie Mae, Idabelle, Martha, Rufus Lee, Mary Elizabeth and an infant.

After divorcement he married Nancy Belle CUMMINGS, 12 Jul 1896, Milburne, McCulloch, TX, and to this union were born Eula Joyce, Ernest Wilson, Julia Lillian, Wm. Edgar, Richard Buckner, Jane Dalton, Autry Blanche, and Gerald Truett. Nancy died on 6 Mar 1920.

With Nancy's death in March of 1920 he married Mrs. Sonora Josephine "Josie" (Edens) Winslett, on 18 Jan, 1921, in McCulloch Co., TX. "Josie" died on 19 Jun 1929.
