WENZEL SMAZEL
(1871 - 1950)

Wenzel Smazel, 79, of 2212 Clark street, died Friday at Holy Family hospital, following a short illness.

Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Pfeffer funeral home and at 9 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic church, the Rev. Martin Jackels officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Smazel was born in Manitowoc in 1871 and always resided here. He was an electric welder at the Invincible Metal furniture company until his retirement 14 years ago. He was a member of the original Marine band for 18 years. In 1892 he married Josephine Franz, and the couple would have observed its 58th wedding anniversary next Wednesday.

Survivors are the wife; daughter, Agnes, at home; two half brothers, William of Manitowoc and Charles of Michigan; half sister, Mrs. Albert Zych of Manitowoc.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening and the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Smazel was a member of the Holy Name society.
