Eleanor M. Strupp, age 94, a resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, died Sunday evening, Dec. 31, 2006, at the home.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1912, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Mead and Azuba (Underwood) Hansen. Eleanor attended Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. On Dec. 1, 1934, she married Arthur J. Strupp at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1987. As a young woman, Eleanor joined the Billy Schultz Circus as a trapeze artist. Eleanor was employed as a sales clerk with various companies in the Manitowoc area and was a past member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Larry Schweigl, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: James (Jeanette) Schweigl, Manitowoc; Tom (Brenda) Schweigl, Sheboygan; Scott (Lisa) Schweigl, Manitowoc; Sherri Schweigl, Manitowoc; and eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by five brothers, including a twin brother: Russell; and one sister.
Private family funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at St. Mary Home Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Daniel Dewane, with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of the third floor at St. Mary's Home for the wonderful care given to Eleanor.
