Louis J. Thor, 78, of 1310 S. 16th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after a week-long illness.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Rev. D.L. Krembs will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mr. Thor was born March 23, 1890, in Carlton, Kewaunee County, son of the late Frank and Veronica Levy Thor. He married Josephine Skoevan April 8, 1913, and operated a cheese factory in Carlton until 1922. He then moved to Manitowoc and had been employed by the American Seeding Co., Mirro Aluminum Co., Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., and until 1955 Sorge Ice Cream and Dairy Co. when he retired. For 12 years, he had been an assistant janitor at St. Andrew Catholic parish, Manitowoc. He was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Arnold and Norbert of Manitowoc, and Richard of Two Rivers; a daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Irene) Schmidt, Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. George Folk, Kewaunee; 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Two daughters, two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home this Monday evening where at 7 o'clock the Rosary will be recited by the Holy Name Society and the Daughters of Isabella.
