Mrs. Joseph Tufts, 75, an invalid for 10 years, died Sunday night at the home in the village of Manitowoc Rapids.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Pfeffer funeral home, and at 9 o’clock from the St. Paul’s Catholic church, with burial in Calvary cemetery.
Mrs. Tufts, nee Mary Nuhs, was born in Manitowoc Rapids in 1866 and in 1887 was married to Joseph Tufts, a bridge builder, and former town official. They made their home in the village. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary three years ago. Mr. Tufts died two years ago.
She was a member of the Christian Mothers of the St. Paul’s church and the Womens Relief corps.
Survivors are a son, Robert of Chicago, and two grandchildren, Patricia and Robert, Jr., of Chicago.
The body will lie in state Tuesday evening at the Pfeffer funeral home. The rosary will be recited at 7 o’clock and later the Womens Relief corps will have services.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tufts Observe Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tufts of Manitowoc Rapids held an open house to receive their friends when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently. No celebration was planned for Mrs. Tufts is confined to her bed. With them on the anniversary day were their son, Robert, his wife and two children, Robert Jr., and Patrica of Chicago.
Mr. Tufts, who is 78 years of age, was born in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and for the past seventy years has lived in Manitowoc county. Mrs. Tufts is 70. Her maiden name was Mary Nuhs, and she was married in the home where she was born in Manitowoc Rapids.
