Mrs. Anton Velchek, 54, of Rt. 1, Mishicot, took her own life Thursday morning at her home. She had been despondent and in poor health for some time.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Specht Funeral Home at Mishicot and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, the Rev. Joseph Kalisek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Manitowoc.
Mrs. Velchek, nee Frances Jagodinsky, was born at Manitowoc on June 29, 1900, a daughter of the late John and Sadie Plotka Jagodinsky. She was married in 1920 in Chicago to Anton Velchek. After residing in that city for two years the family moved to Manitowoc where she lived until 1946 when she and her husband took over a farm in the Town of Gibson.
Besides her husband she leaves three daughters, Mrs. Martin Silovick of Evart, Mich., Mrs. Donald Barta of Riviera, Calif., and Miss Lois Marie Velchek of Kerkley, Mich.; a son, Arnold Velchek of Waukegan, Ill.; five sisters, Mrs. Frank Caltos of Manitowoc, Mrs. George Tecklo of Detroit, Mich., the Misses Gustie and Clara Jagodinsky of Manitowoc and Mrs. Ethel Osgood of Chicago; and five brothers, Charles, Robert, Albert and Frank Jagodinsky of Manitowoc and John Jagodinsky of Milwaukee. There are five grandchildren. A son, Anton Jr., preceded her in death three months ago.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday.
