JOSEPH WALLANDER
(1892 - 1957)

Joseph Wallander, 64, of 722 S. 23rd St., Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. He had been a hospital patient two weeks.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc and at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Clement Kern will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Wallander was born November 9, 1892 in the Town of Cato, son of the late Frank and Eva Straker Wallander. He married Bessie Meyer November 9, 1920 and the couple farmed in the Town of Cato until October of 1945 coming then to Manitowoc. He had been employed several years by Lauson Chevrolet Co. and the past two years by Calvary Cemetery Association. Mr. Wallander was a World War I veteran serving 1918 ? 1919 and was a member of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Laurence of Rt. 1, Cato; five brothers, William of Rt. 1, Greenleaf, Edward and Alvin of Rt. 2, Reedsville, John of Sheboygan and Louis of Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Gintner of Rt. 2, Reedsville, Mrs. Alvin Hickmann of Rt. 2, Newton and Mrs. William Hickman of Cedarburg and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 o?clock this Friday evening.
