Eleanor Weina, age 70, of 3303 Dale St., Manitowoc, died Monday, May 22, 2006, at Appleton Medical Center, Appleton.

She was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Kewaunee, daughter of the late Harold and Anna (Ray) Hardtke. Eleanor was a graduate of St. Paul Grade School, Lincoln High School and Holy Family School of Nursing, class of 1956. On May 25, 1957, she married Benjamin Weina. Eleanor was employed at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, for 40 years as a registered nurse. She was a volunteer at Holy Family for many years, loved to read, travel with her husband, and spend time with her grandchildren. Eleanor was also a member of the Red Hat Club.

Survivors include her husband: Benjamin Weina, Manitowoc; her children and their spouses: Cynthia Kuik and her children, Kiarra and Benjamin of Appleton; Peter and Stacy Weina and their children: Benjamin and Virginia of Washington D.C., and Peter's children: Jessica and Jeffrey of Waukesha; Kathryn and Peter Endries and their children: Alicia and Lindsey of Manitowoc; Christine and Keith Schaefer and their children: Charity, Jennifer and Eric of Manitowoc; Ellen and Wayne Meinnert and their children: Janelle and Justin of Newton; Paul and Christine Weina and their children: Joshua, Bryan, Anthony and Gerard of Two Rivers; Ricky and Tiffany Weina and their children: Kasie and Ricky of Union Grove; Joel and Nina Weina and their children: Allison and Tyler of Aurora, Ill.; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Anthony and Lynn Hardtke of Manitowoc; Allen and JoAnn Hardtke of Montana; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Caroline and Edward Grenier of Branch; Carmen Lesperance and Annie Beeman, both of Manitowoc; and two sisters-in-law: Mary Augustine and Judy Hardtke, both of Manitowoc. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren: Autumn, Donovan, Olivia and Kayleigh, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant brother at birth; a brother: George Hardtke; and a brother-in-law: Harold Weina.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2006, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon Alan Boeldt. Friends may also call Saturday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the Weina family with funeral arrangements.

Eleanor was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother, and nana. She will be missed by all.
