(1918 - 1983)

Daniel P. Wergin Sr., 65, of Park View Manor, Valders, died early Saturday morning, April 16, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 7 o'clock this Sunday evening at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The rev. Richard Heymen and Rev. Richard Klingeisen will officiate. Cremation will follow with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. A memorial mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw.

Mr. Wergin was born Jan. 12, 1918, at Manitowoc, son of the late Peter and Bernice Jaworski Wergin. He married Eileen O'Neil, June 22, 1940, at Manitowoc. The couple lived at 1114 S. 14th St., Manitowoc until 1976 when they moved to Valders. Mr. Wergin had been a painting contractor until retiring in 1973. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army in the Asiatic Theatre and was a former member of The Optimist's Club, The Knights of Columbus and The Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Jr., and Carol Wergin, Dennis and Kay Wergin and Donald and Suzanne Wergin, all of Manitowoc; a daughter, Margaret Litersky of Manitowoc; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Irene Wergin of Sebastian, Fla., and Eugene and Katherine Wergin of Manitowoc; a sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Gerald Wilke of Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Wergin of Crivitz and Marie Wergin of Sheboygan; seven grandchildren, Lon, Tonya, Nichole, Eric and Stephanie Wergin, and Scott and Brett Litersky. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph, and two brothers, Harry and Ray.

Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4, o'clock to 7 o'clock this Sunday afternoon.
