Edward L. Wickert, 72, of 402 N. 44th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Duane Dionne will officiate and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Wickert was born Feb. 12, 1904, in Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Edward and Katherine Zimmer Wickert. In his youth, he was a pitcher in semi-pro baseball. He married the former Grace M. Lambries Sept. 5, 1923, at Manitowoc. He was employed by Dick Bros. Bakery, Manitowoc, for 37 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of St. Paul Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his wife; a son-in-law and daughter, Kurt and Fern Narten, and a son, Robert, of Manitowoc; two uncles, William Zimmer, of Manitowoc and Edward Zimmer, of San Francisco; two aunts, Mrs. Frances Mrozinski and Mrs. Elizabeth Sieracki, of Manitowoc; a grandson and wife, William and Sandra Narten; a great grandson, Scott Narten, and a niece, Mrs. Pete Calabrese, of Manitowoc. A sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5 to 9 o’clock this Monday evening where a prayer service will be held at 7 o’clock.
