Mathew J. Wier, 62, of 1108 Grand Ave., Manitowoc, died Saturday afternoon.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. James R. DeWitt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Wier was born Jan. 30, 1912, at Manitowoc, son of the late John and Julia Muchowski Wier. He married Marie Stiefvater Aug. 17, 1935, at Manitowoc. He had been employed at Weyerhaeuser Co. of Manitowoc until his retirement this year. He was a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and Manitowoc-Sheboygan Lakeshore Pigeon Club.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, James, of Milwaukee and Lawrence, of Villa Park, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Patrick (Anne Marie) Doolan, of St. Joseph, Mich., and Miss Margaret Wier, of Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. Al Tomchek, of Milwaukee and Mrs. Alfred Wagner of St. Nazianz; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Arlette Wier, of Green Bay and five grandchildren. A brother, Edward, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home from 4 to 9 o’clock this Monday afternoon, where a wake service will be held at 8 o’clock by Catholic Order of Foresters, Daughters of Isabella and friends.
Memorials may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Fund.
