Lloyd H. Witt, age 77, 1324 S. 20th St., Manitowoc, Wis., died Sunday, Nov. 21, at the family residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrington Parkside Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Roman Zbieranski. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post 88.

He was born Feb. 27, 1922 in the town of Manitowoc Rapids to the late Anton and Sophia Hamernik Witt. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1939. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943. He served with the Naval Construction Battalion Sea Bees in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946. After returning to Manitowoc he worked with his father as a blacksmith and ran his own general repair business for 20 years. He then worked for Manitowoc Industrial and also Red Arrow Products from where he retired in 1987. He married Georgiana Denk Vogel on Sept. 30, 1977 in Manitowoc. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 and the Manitowoc Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife, Georgiana; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Carol Witt, Sheboygan, Wis.; one brother and sister-in-law, Anton and Helen Witt, Manitowoc; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol and Charles Stark, Manitowoc, Wis. and Kathleen Witt, Tucson, Ariz.; a step daughter, Robin (Bob) Nett, Oregon; step-daughter-in-law, Ellen Vogel, Manitowoc, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Steve Vogel; two brothers, Charles and Earl Witt; and a sister, Eveleyn Kliment.

Friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. led by Deacon Bob Drobka.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
