PETER ZARNIK, RETIRED PATROLMAN, DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME ON SOUTH SIDE AT NOON TODAY
Peter Zarnik, retired, for 22 years a member of the police force of the city, died suddenly at his home, 1039 South Twentieth street shortly after noon today, death being due to heart trouble. He was about 60 years of age.
Mr. Zarnik, who had been in ill health for two years past, though not incapacitated, had stepped from the door of his home when he suddenly fell to the ground and expired almost instantly. Physicians who were called were unable to revive him. Up to a year ago, Mr. Zarnik served on the police force, being one of the night policemen. He was appointed to the department April 12, 1892 and was retired under the police pension fund April 1, last year, since which time he had remained at his home.
He is survived by a widow and six children, one daughter having died at Milwaukee recently.
C. Zarnik, a son of the decedent and an employee of the city light plant, is at present under quarantine with his family on account of smallpox, the case having been reported a week ago. He resides on the west side.

Samuel Zarnik and wife of Milwaukee were here to attend the funeral of the late Peter Zarnik held this morning. Six members of the police force, of which he was for years a member, officiated as pall bearers at the funeral.
