William Zimmer, 95, of Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, died Sunday evening, May 6, 1990, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Presiding the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Ronald Reimer with burial to follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside ; military services will be accorded by American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88 of Manitowoc.

He was born April 30, 1895 in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Nicholas and Anna Lambries Zimmer. He married Pearl Runge, June 30, 1924, in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death in November of 1958. Mr. Zimmer was employed with the Bridge Crews on the East Coast until his marriage then employed by the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company as a Fitter until his retirement in 1960. He was a member of American Legion Drews Bleser Post 88 and a Veteran of World War I serving in the 2nd and 4th French Army who was honored 2 years ago by the French Consulate in Mishicot, Wisconsin, on Armistice Day.

Survivors include seven nieces, Mrs. Pat (Delphine) McDonnell of Thousand Oaks, California, Mrs. William (Christine) Becker of Manitowoc, Mrs. Royal (Cecilia) Peterson of Manitowoc, Mrs. Wilbur (Dorothy) Haase of Texas, Mrs. Ida Mae Scalcini of Oakland, California, Mrs. Mike (June) Spurgeon of Valders, Mrs. Steve (Mary Ann) Hamiester of Sacramento, California, a nephew, Mr. Paul Zimmer of Livermore, California and a cousin, Mrs. And Mrs. Je and Ora Lambries. He was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Nick, Peter and Edward and three sisters, Katherine, Elizabeth and Frances.

Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
