JOHN J. ZINGSHEIM
(1839 - 1902)

Chas. Zingsheim, for many years a resident of the city, died Thursday at his home at the corner of Fourteenth and Franklin streets after an illness of some time.

He was 81 years of age and was well known among a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Of late he had been in failing health and death came as a messenger of deliverance.

An aged wife and nine children survive.

The funeral will be held from St. Boniface church Saturday morning.

John Zingsheim, a resident on the corner of 9th and Hamilton Streets, died Thurs. afternoon after a long illness with cancer.

He was born in 1840 in the Mosel region of the Rhineland and came to America with his family in 1888, settling in the vicinity of Manitowoc where he has resided ever since.

In addition to his widow he is survived by 9 children of whom the youngest is 15 yrs. old. 3 children had preceded him in death, 2 while the family was still in Germany, as well as a 17-yr. old son here in America 7 years ago.

The deceased had worked 3 years in the school seating factory which burned down in 1892, since which time he was a trusted and energetic worker at the Manitowoc Seating Co.

His funeral was held Sat. morning at the Catholic Cemetery.

NOTE:
I can't find Charles Zingsheim in Manitowoc County.
A John Zingsheim lived on 14th st. on the 1900 Manitowoc twp. census Ward 3 p.6. and also in the City Directories for 1898 and the 1901-1902 one.
I believe these should both be John Zingsheim and the Manitowoc Herald was in error about the first name and the Der Nord Westen was in error about the address and both should be John who lived on 14th street.
