Mark's burial is split between Elmhurst Presbyterian Church (Elmhurst, Illinois) in the Memorial Garden in front of the church where there is a plaque inside with his name on it, and the remainder of his cremains are spread in the Boundary Waters on the "Step Portage", a very well known portage of about 100 stone steps with a waterfall next to it that leads to Rose Lake on the border of the US and Canada.

He was buried in the waterfall - this was one of his favorite places and we went through it several times, once going into Canada to Quetico through Rose Lake. It has very high vistas and overlooks the lake and you can see Canada from the top of the portage.
