Burial will follow in the Brownville Cemetery in Goodwater, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Dr. Swindall passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 at East Alabama Medical Center.
He was born on November 15, 1930 in Goodwater, Alabama to Arthur Jasper Swindall and Maggie Jacobs Swindall. He was a member of New Covenant Church and was a dedicated Christian who enjoyed studying the Bible. Dr. Swindall graduated from Goodwater High School, The University of Alabama, and from the Alabama School of Medicine now known as UAB.
He was a Korean War veteran who served in the United States Navy as a Medic.
Dr. Swindall then practiced medicine in Dadeville for over 50 years and always loved his patients as friends. He was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed dealing with real estate and in the stock market. Dr. Swindall was a member of the American Medical Association, Tallapoosa County Medical Association, and the Southern Medical Association.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Barbara Swindall of Dadeville; daughters, Margaret S. Swindall of Buford, GA, Bonnie McClendon (Stanley) of Auburn, and Karen Ingram (Dugg) of Birmingham; sons, Alan J. Swindall, Jr. (Carla) of Dadeville, James M. Swindall of Dadeville, Jimmy Griffies (Kim) of Hendersonville, TN, and Michael Griffies (Lisa) of Tallassee; grandchildren, Jake, Lauren, Allison, and Mitchell McClendon; Alison and Emma Swindall; Lexi and William Griffies; Reagan Hawkins; Ben, Ellie, and Emma Grace Ingram; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jamie Swindall.
