Born in Germany and a baker by trade, at 32 years old, John F. Ehmann enlisted in Company H, 75th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment on 28 Sep 1861. Fought at Gettysburg July 1st/2nd 1863. Mustered out on 01 Sep 1865 at Franklin, TN. He was 5' 6 1/2" tall with light hair and grey eyes.

EHMANN - On the 24th of January, 1900. John F. Ehmann, beloved husband of Christiana Ehmann, aged 71 years. The relatives and friends of the family, also the members of the U.S. Grant Post, No. 5, G.A.R.; survivors of the Seventy-fifth Regiment P.V.; Social and Southwark Baker Societies and Hiawatha Tribe, No. 25, I. O. R. M. are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from his late residence, No. 1258 South Twenty-first st. Interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
