Obituary
Olive Nytha Thatcher was born in Macon County, Missouri, September 20, 1872 and departed this life April 18, 1945 at the age of 72 years, 6 months, and 28 days.
In 1890 she was married to Nathaniel Winkler who preceded her in death February 19, 1899. To this union were born three daughters, Grace (Mrs. Chris Halvorsen) of Chicago, Illinois, Mae (Mrs. Webster White) of Anabel and Lynne (Mrs. Henry Putemar) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, all of whom survive. A son and also twin sons died in infancy.
She is survived by five grandchildren, namely, Webster White, Jr. of Anabel, Virginia (Mrs. Donald Roemer) of Atlanta, Misses Vivian and Mary Jean White of Long Beach, California, and Miss Wilma Grace White of Anabel. Three great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Karen Ann White and Lance Roemer also survive.
Besides her daughters and grandchildren, there are left to mourn her passing, two half-sisters, Olivia (Mrs. George McMillan of Rock Island, Illinois), and Mrs. Nannie Thatcher of Atlanta, three half-brothers, Jake and Roscoe Tanhey of Atlanta, and Fred Tanhey of Webster Grove, Missouri.
In 1926 she and Grant McQuary were united in marriage; he preceded her in death January 17, 1940.
On March 10th, she suffered a paralytic stroke at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Webster White, with whom she had made her home the past winter. All that loving hearts and kind hand could do, was done to alleviate her suffering.
She was a kind and loving mother, a helpful neighbor and a thoughtful friend. It can be truly said that in the training of her family, in her church and social circle, she always did her duty nobly. Professing a beautiful faith in Christ, and fully prepared for another state of existence, she passed on to enjoy the reward of a life well spent on earth.
Funeral services were conducted at the Atlanta Christian Church, Friday afternoon April 20th. Interment was in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
