Hallock, Minn. - Bernice Minske, 90, Hallock, died at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002.
Bernice Ethel Hallan was born in Holmes, N.D. on Dec. 28, 1911, the daughter of Peter and Mollie (Kleven) Hallan. She grew up in the Drayton area and attended country schools in North Dakota.
On Nov. 18, 1932 she married Clarence H. Minske at Hallock. The couple settled near Kennedy, and farmed there. They also owned and operated Bernice’s Cafe in Kennedy.
In 1944 they moved to Hallock and farmed until their retirement in 1977. From 1977 to 1983 they lived in Pengilly, Minn. and in 1983 they moved to Lancaster.
Clarence died Dec. 18, 1985. Bernice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hallock and was a member and agent for Royal Neighbors.
Survivors include a daughter, Dee Ann (Roger) Westerberg of Lancaster; a son, Lyndon (Toody) Minske, Hallock; two daughters-in-law, Anita Minske, Fargo, and Dorothy Minske, Pengilly; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a brother, Floyd Hallan, Thief River Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Eugene on Jan. 31, 1997 and Clare on July 20, 2000; three sisters, Helen, Lila and Marian; one brother, Palmer.
Funeral services were Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Hallock. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Hallock.
Rev. Robert Kippley presided. Pallbearers were Craig Minske, Kent Minske, Kendall Minske, Kurt Minske, Troy Minske, Daryn Minske, Randy Dahl and Brian Dahl.
Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock, was in charge of arrangements.
