Leonard R. Hansen, age 86, resident of Manitowoc, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Leonard was born on July 1, 1926 in Manitowoc to the late Leonard and Edna Behrman Hansen. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. Leonard then enlisted with the United States Army and served overseas in Europe during World War II. On October 2, 1948, Leonard married Dolores Jacobs at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2007. Leonard was employed with Manitowoc Engineering as a Journeyman Mechanic for 42 years until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newtonburg, the Sea Gull Club, Seagull Band and also other local bands.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Jean (Wayne) Cannon, Green Bay; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife: Dolores; son: Daniel Hansen; two brothers; and one sister.
A private funeral service was held at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel on Monday, December 10, 2012 and burial took place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Online condolences may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
