Fred Austin, Owned Dairy Farm
OASPORT — Fred A. Austin, 75, of Gasport, died Oct. 28 at his home.
Mr. Austin was born in the family homestead in Gasport on May 14, 1919 and was the son of the late Clarence and Bessie Faling Austin.
He lived in Gasport all of his life.
He farmed at his present address and retired in 1978. He also owned and operated Austin's Dairy in Gasport for many years. In 1959 the dairy ceased operation.
He was a member of the Gasport Masonic Lodge #787 F&AM and was past Master of the Lodge. He was also a member of the Shriners of Buffalo.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Boyer Austin, in 1975 and a brother, Peter F. Austin.
He is survived by a dear friend, Dorothy Walker, of Gasport; his children, Susan (Ronald) Swarthout, Gail (Kenneth) Kalbfliesh, both of Gasport, Betsy (J. Craig) O'Brien, of Bristol, Maine, Janet (Dale) Dunkelberger, of Lockport, and Fred C. (Sharon) Austin, of Gasport; also several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were observed Saturday and Sunday.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home Inc., 38 State St., Middleport. The Rev. Everett Hendrickson officated and burial
was in Hartland Central Cemetery.
Memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
